[Appearance] (Coming soon)
[Origin]
In the ancient days when the world was but an infant, with streams instead of rivers, and saplings in place of trees, a great beast of the sky came upon the earth. This beast, was a dragon, and his name was Xinairu. All of it's life it had swam through the darkness, knowing nothing but the surrounding blanket of shadow and silence. It was a lonely life, and one that was expected to be eternal. Until, in the blackness, Xinairu saw a strange thing. A single light, circling around a strange thing the dragon would later learn to be called, land. From above, it marveled at the young wonders that crawled across it's surface, and swam beneath it's waters. Loneliness was forgotten in light of these plants and creatures the mighty beast had never seen before, heart swelling with growing affection. However, the joy it felt at this place was short lived.
As the great fireball that had led the dragon to this place crossed the sky and moved towards the horizon, the inhabitants of this world began to tremble in fear and race into hiding. Xinairu watched in dismay as the light vanished, and this wonderful land was plunged into complete darkness. The creatures of our world were terrified of the perpetual night, too frightened to leave their dens for fear of being lost forever to the shadows, or devoured by an unseen threat. The great dragon became sick with sorrow. When light came again, the number of inhabitants was less than before, and Xinairu realized the beasts of this place, were slowly going extinct.
[The Stars]
Xinairu pitied the creatures of our world whom it had come to love, for they had extinguished the loneliness within the great dragon. It was because of this, that it vowed to help our world. With mighty wings, it flew up towards the fireball of light, known today as the sun. He soared so close, his body blocked out part of the circle's glow, covering the earth in darkness during the day. This became the first Eclipse. With a mighty breath, Xinairu devoured some of the sun's light, drinking from it until it began to sink back under the horizon.
When night came again, the dragon flew to a point in the sky, and breathed some of the light into it's claws. With the glow, he molded the first and brightest star, placing it above our world. But it was not enough. Again and again, Xinairu molded stars from his breath, and spread them across the night sky. Slowly, the land below began to be bathed in pale light. Yet still, the creatures below became lost in the darkness. So the dragon weaved paths through the sky, to help guide the inhabitants across the land.
[The Moon]
It's work complete, Xinairu returned to the land. The creatures were thankful to the great dragon, but still they feared. For what would happen if the stars began to go out? Would the dragon be able to find the sky again to relight them? Hearing their concern, Xinairu swore he would forever watch over the stars and the world below, so that whoever walked upon the earth could look up and know they were not alone. With this vow, the dragon returned to the sky, and with a mighty breath, created a massive ball of light which it circled into the shape of the sun. Placing it among the stars to be it's home. Exhausted from all the work done to the night, Xinairu stretched over the surface of this light and fell into a deep sleep.
This sphere became known as the moon. It is said, that the full moon is the night when Xinairu rises back to the sky to relight the stars, before returning back to the moon's surface, slowly stretching over it until the light is completely covered, before falling asleep. Then, as he begins to awake again he slowly rises, revealing the sphere's glow inch by inch, until taking to the sky to breath light into the stars again, and that is where the great dragon lives to this day. However, if you pray sincerely to it for guidance, it is believed that Xinairu will rise early to relight the paths through the stars.
[Eclipse]
It is believed that an eclipse occurs, when the light Xinairu has swallowed begins to dim. When this begins to happen, the dragon rises up during the day, to devour some of the sun's glow as it did when it first created the stars, it's body blocking out most of the sun. When Xinairu has drank it's fill, it returns back to the moon, and prepares to continue fulfilling the promise it made to the creatures of the land.
[When Praying to Xinairu]
Praying to Xinairu when lost, is said to make one's path clearer. Whether it's through the night of light or life, as long as one prays sincerely, the great dragon will guide them and watch over them. Blessing them with the gift of guidance for themselves, and others.
